December 26, 2014, Dr Keith MacLellan was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada, for his contributions to advancing rural medicine in Canada. His family goes back seven generations locally in Pontiac County. Doctor MacLellan is a founding member of the group now known as the Society of Rural Physicians. The National Head Office is in Shawville, Quebec.
